L’internet est depuis sa création un lieu de mobilisations et de contestation des pouvoirs. Le pouvoir médical n’a pas échappé, notamment dans le contexte de la diffusion de l’épidémie de sida, à une mise en cause par des groupes de patients organisés. On peut déjà faire une histoire de la relation entre médecins et patients depuis les années 1980 autour ou à propos des réseaux numériques, entre utopie de la santé parfaite et diffusion incontrôlée des informations médicales.

Since its beginnings the Internet has served as a locus for mobilisation and challenges to the powers that be. As has particularly been the case with the AIDS pandemic, medical powers had to face up to the challenges thrown at them by groups of patients. A history of the physician-patient relationship and digital networks since the 1980s could already be envisaged, erring between the utopia of perfect health and uncontrolled dissemination of medical information.
